The SAW Spangled Banner Project
Jamie : Wednesday 03 February, 2010 : Audio, Events, Media, Photos, Student News, VideoOn Saturday, January 30, almost 60 String Academy students participated in a recording of a special arrangement of the Star Spangled Banner, affectionately referred to as the “SAW” Spangled Banner. The level of excitement and discipline was was overwhelming, and the results speak for themselves. Congratulations to all who were involved! Keep your fingers crossed and stay tuned for further developments.
We are pleased to announce the winner of the String Academy 2009 Art Competition is the Boyland family with this excellent design. Look for this design more in the future. Maybe on a t-shirt? For all the other entries, check out our gallery on facebook.

2007 Teacher Workshop Participants
This past July, violinists and violists from across the United States participated in the twelfth annual String Academy Teaching Violin to Children workshop. Participants of all ages and levels of teaching experience enjoyed the busy four-day weekend of lectures, hands-on learning sessions, round table discussions, performances and demonstrations. String Academy students presented a beautiful welcome concert the first evening and also helped with demonstrations of various technical and musical concepts throughout the workshop.
String Academy faculty David Anderson, Scott Cook, Darcy Drexler and SAW founder Mimi Zweig are presenting Teaching the Violin to Children and Teaching Children the Cello workshops this coming July 10-13, 2008. These workshops focus on all aspects of string playing with special emphasis on establishing a solid foundation.
