Information for New StudentsTeacherThe Executive Director assigns each new student to the teacher who is most suited to the needs of that student. A request for a specific teacher will be considered.Lesson ScheduleTeachers will contact students and their parents to find lesson times which are agreeable to all concerned.What is Expected of New Students and Their ParentsLessonsEvery week the beginning student attends a 30 minute individual lesson and a 45 minute group lesson. The group lessons are an integral part of the learning experience for the student, and for that reason attendance is required. The parent must be present at both the individual and the group lesson.PracticingNew beginning students and first year students are expected to practice 15 to 30 minutes each day with the support and help of a parednt. As students progress, the length of this daily practice will increase.Parent ResponsibilitiesExtensive experience has shown that the amount learned and the speed with which it is learned is directly associated with the amount of parent involvement.

In addition to being present for all lessons and classes and supervising all
home practice, parents are expected to provide the child with regular opportunities to
attend classical music concerts, and to support and participate in fund raising projects and
special enrichment events at the String Academy.
