Music theory is an integral part of our musical education, and as such, it is taught at all stages of development at the String Academy. From the earliest ages, ear training, rhythmic, and written music theory skills are implemented with fun and engaging games as well as age-appropriate workbooks during weekly group lessons. At more advanced levels, two classes are offered that meet on Saturdays during the regular academic year. These classes further develop the musical understanding of our students, teaching them advanced levels of ear training, melodic dictation, harmonic dictation, rhythmic skills, sight-singing, form, and a working knowledge of tonal harmony. Music history is also incorporated.
