Welcome, New Faculty!

This fall we are excited to welcome two new faculty to the String Academy of Wisconsin: Michael Ferraro and Peter Vickery.  Both Peter  and Michael bring excellent credentials and experience with them, and we look forward to what they will contribute to our school.  Please help us make them feel at home by saying hello if you see them in the hallways!

Michael Ferraro Mr. Ferraro joined the faculty at the String Academy of Wisconsin the fall of 2012. Michael received his Bachelor’s degree in music performance from Indiana State University where he studied with Kurt Fowler. While at ISU, Michael was a member of the Terre Haute Symphony. Michael received his Master’s degree in String Pedagogy from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he studied with Scott Cook and Stefan Kartman. During his time at UWM, Michael was on the faulty at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. Through Michael’s collegiate career, he attended several music festivals such as: Meadowmount School of Music where he studied with Tom Landschoot and Matt Haimovitz, Brevard Music Festival studying with Andre Gaskins and Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival studying with Stefan Kartman. While living in Milwaukee, Michael is also a freelance musician and an avid chamber musician.
Peter Vickery, violin Peter Vickery is a violinist in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. In the past, Peter served as concertmaster of the Terre Haute Symphony and the IU Jacobs School of Music’s University and Chamber Orchestras. Some of his other musical endeavors include worldwide tours with the Jacobs School of Music’s Violin Virtuosi and chamber music collaborations with Alexander Kerr, Eric Kim, Joshua Bell, Jeannette Koekkoek, and the crossover string trio Time for Three. The past two summers, Peter taught at the Jacobs School of Music’s Summer String Academy and performed on the Jacobs School of Music’s Summer Music series. Peter holds a BM from the Jacobs School of Music, where he studied with Alexander Kerr. His other teachers include Mimi Zweig and Brenda Brenner.
