Alex Ayers made his debut with the Waukesha Symphony last November 4th and 6th as soloist in the Bach E Major Concerto. He is a freshman violin major at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. This past March, he performed with other IU violinists on the Prairie Home Companion radio show.
Maiken Knudsen has received a full-time appointment as Operations and Education Coordinator for the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra following her summer 2007 internship. In her new position, she acted as coordinator for the orchestra’s 2008 Bach Double Competition.
Last May, Sarah Kapustin won first place in the International Instrument Competition Markneukirchen in Germany. Last summer Sarah performed on a music series in Sitka, Alaska. She is spending a second year at the Paris Conservatory, completing the chamber music program there with her piano trio. Sarah will tour once again with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and finish the season as concertmaster of the Orchestra of the Laureates of the Conservatory. Last December Sarah performed with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra in Carnegie Hall, playing one of the solos in the Brandenburg Concerto No.3 by J.S. Bach. She has also been invited to tour with the Marlboro On the Road chamber ensemble in 2009.
Travis Leanna gave his Master of Music in String Pedagogy Lecture Recital on April 21st at the UWM Peck School of the Arts Recital Hall. Travis has worked with Darcy Drexler in the UWM String Pedagogy degree program and has taught in the String Academy’s Inner City Music Program at Cass Street School these past two years. Travis was featured in a UWM website article about the String Pedagogy masters degree program.
Christine Liu performed her Doctor of Musical Arts recital on April 13 at UW-Madison.
Lucia Strother was honored with the Arion Foundation Award for musical excellence and academic excellence at the Nicolet High School Orchestra’s third annual awards banquet held last May at Nicolet High School. Lucia served as Principal Cello of the 2006-07 Nicolet Chamber Orchestra. She is currently studying music at Wesleyan College in Connecticut and is principal cello in the orchestra there.
Jeanette Jang is in graduate studies at the University of Michigan. She performed in the Sarasota (FL) Opera orchestra during the 2006/07 winter season.
