On Sunday, October 21, 2007, seventy-five members of the Wisconsin Cello Society from throughout the state convened on the UWM campus for the annual WCS Cello Day hosted by SAW and UWM. The Wisconsin Cello Society is comprised of college and university faculty amateur and professional cellists and cello students of all ages who love and celebrate all things “cello”.

Hans Goldstein
SAW faculty member Scott Cook coordinated and hosted this year’s all-day event. Wendy Warner from the SAW faculty and Stefan Kartman from the UWM faculty taught master classes for all levels of students. The WCS Solo Competition was held simultaneously with judges Scott Tisdel, Adrian Zitoun, Jane Hollander, Cathy Spann and Braden Zitoun awarding top prizes to Hans Goldstein and Amy Wagner.
The day was capped off with a gala concert by a forty-celli-strong orchestra in the Zelazo Center playing everything from Elgar to Bile Them Cabbage Down. There was also a performance of The Pink Panther as arranged by Scott Tisdel and performed by WCS board members, MSO cellists, SAW faculty and UWM students.
