Randy Sabien
The String Academy welcomes Randy Sabien – “the next Jean Luc Ponty” – on October 30, 1993, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 M. On this day each String Academy “group” will participate in a jazz workshop taught by Randy Sabien.
Randy Sabien is in every way a “big time” jazz artist. At the age of 21 he was asked to start and chair the Jazz String Department at Boston’s Berklee College of Music Randy has played the clubs in urban jazz hot spots such as New York City, Chicago, New Orleans and performed on National Public Radio’s “Prairie Home Companion” and “Whadda Ya’ Know.” After achieving success in the ig dries, 35 year old Randy Sabien decided to settle down in Stone Lake, Wisconsin. He is happiest playing to sell out crowds in Fort Atkinson and Ashland as well as teaching jazz fundamentals in public school or academy settings. Randy runs his own recording studio, enjoys fishing and walking in the woods. We look forward to a fresh, stimulating workshop on Jazz string playing.
